The post holder will work as a Complementary Therapist within a dynamic team, providing approved therapies to patients and residents in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services. Complementary Therapies are an important element of patient centred quality care provided to patients and residents of our services. The Complementary Therapist will operate within a multidisciplinary framework while functioning as an autonomous practitioner, assessing, treating, evaluating and ceasing treatments as appropriate and within professional boundaries and competencies.
Recognised Third Level Degree or higher in the areas of Medicine, Health or Social Care Disciplines (such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Speech & Language Therapy, etc.) or Registered in the General Nursing Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais.
Diploma Level qualification in Massage
Diploma Level qualification in Aromatherapy.
Full Active Membership of a recognised Professional Complementary Therapy Association relevant to therapies required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Health or Social Care Setting.
Minimum 2 years Complementary Therapy experience post diploma qualification.
Experience practising as a Complementary Therapist in a healthcare/hospital/hospice setting.
Training /education in one of the organizational specialties i.e. Palliative Care or Care of the Older Person
Diploma level qualification in Reflexology
Evidence of psychosocial support skills
Experience of working in one of our specialties
Experience of audit, standards and research
