Volunteers needed for the Pink Ribbonwalks!

What are the Pink Ribbonwalks?
The Breast Cancer Care Pink Ribbonwalks are much loved walking events that are now in their twelfth year. Over 5000 people will walk 5, 10 or 20 miles at one of six stunning locations around the UK. Each participant will raise at least £100 for Breast Cancer Care to help us provide care, support and information for anyone affected by breast cancer from day one.

The 2016 Pink Ribbonwalk line-up:
Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire Saturday 14 May
Polesden Lacey, Surrey Saturday 21 May
Chatsworth, Derbyshire Saturday 4 June
Stourhead, Wiltshire Saturday 11 June
Glasgow at Night Saturday 25 June
London at Night Saturday 9 July

Why should your company volunteer?
A short leg massage after a challenging walk makes a huge difference to our walkers and helps to ensure that they leave the event happy and comfortable. By volunteering you’ll be helping us to make the event a success so that we can support even more people to live with breast cancer.
You’ll get to meet lots of local people who may become future clients. You will have a dedicated area which you can decorate and set up as you like using your own branding. You are also more than welcome to wear your own T-shirts and hand out business cards. In previous years businesses have capitalised on the day by running prize draws for everyone who liked their facebook page and taken details from walkers so that they could contact them in the future.
We are happy to discuss any ideas you may have for the day/night.

What happens on the day/night?
We hope to offer our walkers a well deserved quick leg massage after they have crossed the finish line. As we expect between 750-1200 walkers at each event we know it will not be possible to offer each of them a massage. However, we will operate on a first come first served basis and massages will last no more than ten minutes to allow as many walkers to be seen as possible.
Around a third of our walkers have a history of breast cancer, and so it may be a good idea to ask if there are any areas you should avoid massaging. Hopefully by sticking to leg and foot massages we will avoid any sensitive areas

How long will you be volunteering for?
Day time Pink Ribbonwalks
We need massage volunteers from 1.00pm – 6.00pm.
The majority of walkers will finish between 3.30pm – 5.00pm, however some may not finish until 5.30pm. If these times are not suitable please let us know and we can discuss alternatives.
Night time Pink Ribbonwalks
We need massage volunteers from 10.30pm – 7.30am and within this period there will be two peaks of walkers finishing. The 5 and 10 mile walkers will finish between 10.30pm – 1.15am, and the 20 mile walkers will finish between 2.40am – 7.15am. We understand it may not be possible to commit to the full shift, please contact us to discuss what times you will be available.

What will you be provided with?

Water and snacks

Free parking at the venue (NB not available at the London at Night and Glasow at Night events)

Hand sanitiser gel
What will you need to bring?

Your own massage bed, oils and towels

Any of your own branding and materials

How many volunteers do we need?
We would require 10-15 massage volunteers per event. You would be responsible for recruiting these therapists, but if you feel this number is too large please get in touch with us as we may be able to help.

Insurance
Massage therapists must be qualified in their field and have their own insurance. We will need to see a copy of all volunteers qualification and insurance prior to the event. We are able to accept student masseurs if a teacher is able to volunteer with them on the day, or if their massage school is able to supply a letter stating that they are aware the student is volunteering at a Breast Cancer Care event and are prepared to accept liability if a claim is made. We would also require a copy of the school’s Public Liability Insurance.
Bringing equipment
If you have heavy equipment please contact us before the event to discuss where you will be able to drop off near the massage marquee. You will then need to return vehicles to the main car park, however all parking for the day time Pink Ribbonwalks is close by. There will be no guarenteed parking at the night Pink Ribbonwalks.
