Volunteer complementary therapists - uclh.nhs.uk
Currently we are looking for complementary therapists whom are experienced at delivering aromatherapy/massage/reflexology and reiki to clients with health issues to volunteer in our team which gives sessions to inpatients within our hospital.
Volunteers can deliver sessions either to patients who have specifically requested a session or proactively offer their services on the wards. These are currently aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and reiki. The service is available to patients and their carers.
Therapists are directly managed by Voluntary Services and deliver sessions to inpatients (not oncology) throughout the main UCH Tower. Treatments tend to be a series of one off sessions, rather than ongoing treatments due to the turnaround of patients within the Tower, although there can be some ‘regulars’. Chatting with patients is encouraged and this is often as important as the session.
Patients book sessions directly with Voluntary Services, and therapists when use this list to visit patients in the Tower. Therapists check in with clinical staff on arrival at a ward, and then deliver sessions at the bedside. As such we look for qualified therapists whom have a lot of prior experience of working with diverse groups, and know how to work with different health conditions.
