Looking for work - reflexology

I am a qualified Reflexologist (ITEC Dip) and I am looking for work either one of two days a week in a local clinic or salon. I would also be interested in corporate bookings and pamper days. I live in Welwyn Garden City in Hertforshire and although I also have a full-time job, my hours are flexible.
My email address is or telephone 01707 887781.

Hi Emma - just browsing and noticed your message from last year. I've just finished from ITEC A&P and Reflexology (fingers crossed I've passed) and would love to know how you have progressed since January 06. I'm a bit at a loss as to what to do next .. results not until end of Aug 07, but I don't want to lose my enthusiasm.
Any advice would be welcome.

Hi Susan

Sorry I did not reply sooner, I have only just checked my e-mails.

Without trying to sound too negative business is quite slow. I do however have a full-time job so I do have to juggle the two. I am also careful about how I advertise as I am a mobile therapist and am aware of the obvious issues involving my safety so mostly I try to work from recommendation - which is why business is slow. If I am seeing a client for the first time that has not been recommended by a friend or member of my family I ask my husband to come with me and wait in the car and I let the customer know that my husband is coming with me and explain why. It's maybe not an ideal scenario but I haven't had a problem with it as yet. I think most people see it as a sensible option.

You could try to contact some local schools to see if they offer indulgence evenings. I have done a couple of these now and have had some clients from them. Normally one of the mums will organise one of these events so ask the school for her contact details. They are not great earners and you will normally do 15 minutes treatments for between £5 and £8 each but it is a good way to get yourself known locally.

I have also joined a couple of groups to help boost my earnings as a therapist and one of them is called the Pampering Experience. If you would like their details please e-mail me direct at and the other group who I am about to approach are called Pamper Party. With both groups you work freelance and they take a small cut of your earnings - which I am quite happy with as they are actively finding the business for you. I believe that both groups are happy for you to try to promote your own business too.

I hope this helps and wish you luck.

If you would like to know anything else, please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards,

Gillian Kenyon

The H Club is built of a registered membership of independent practitioners. It is a virtual Health Club !. It assists member practitioners to enhance their business opportunities and expertise in Therapies, Fitness, Nutrition, Stress and Lifestyle practices with meetings, talks, demonstrations, micro-experiences, CPD and helps them to promote their treatments to clients.

We are a club of wellbeing practitioners,
formed for wellbeing practitioners
and run by wellbeing practitioners

The H Club actively markets the services of all participating members who ask to be included in our promotional programmes. These include targeted leafletting campaigns, attendance at exhibitions and shows where we promote our member’s products and services, e-mail promotions, internet and web-directory promotions, events participation.

We also actively prepare press releases and editorial to promote The H Club as the premier co-operative of professional independent therapies and well-being practitioners in the country.

Through its reputation for quality practitioners, The H Club generates numerous enquiries from the public and passes contact details to appropriately qualified and located member practitioners as requested by prospective clients.

The H Club also has a number of marketing organisations who have approached us and with whom we have agreements whereby they help us generate new client opportunities.

Clients select our independent member practitioners for their local sessions because of our reputation for quality service, name, brand image and growing size.

The H Club runs a client matching service for all client enquiries. We screen client calls and ensure that medical conditions are identified up front. Members with appropriate skills, local to the client are identified and contacted to ascertain availability and skills match. Members are then passed the client contact details and make appropriate arrangements for the appointment directly with the client.
