Fibromyalgia and Myofascia Release Treatment
Thank you all for your comments from my previous ask, but I do know that Deep Tissue or Remedial Massage is not the way to go with these patients. I am told that Myofascia Release Therapy is very gentle and extremely effective, and I just wanted to know if anyone out there has this qualification, how it works with the different conditions that client's present with, especially fibromyalgia. Before I commit to time and study, I want to hear from 'the shop floor' so to speak.
I have a personal reason overall, as my husband suffers from this condition, so you could say I am living with it first hand. Yes I do do Reflexology, but there seem to be hugh claims for the Myofascia Release, hence the question. Thanks.

|Hi Mary, I did a 6-day foundational myofascial release course last year. I did the course because I'd been having MFR treatments for my aches and pains (not fibromyalgia, just your common-or-garden aches and pains) for a while, and I found it way better than any other massage I'd received, so I thought I'd better start doing it for my clients, too. Now I almost never do anything else. I'm afraid I haven't worked with anyone with fibromyalgia, so I can't comment on that, but I can see how it would be incredibly effective. So, for what it's worth, I'd massively encourage you to do it. The training was worth every one of the many pennies I spent on it :) It may well depend on who you train with. I can recommend Jing massage training, that's who I did it with.

I have been a Bowtech Bowen therapist for seventeen years and specialise in neurological conditions. I am also a reflexologist and massage therapist. Through experience, I always recommend the Bowen technique to help FM because of the minimal gentle work and have devised a special program whereby there is hope for renewed energy and less pain in specific areas. I have recently written about this in my blog: www.bowtechease.blogspot.com I am happy to share my experiences with you, if you would like to contact me. Best regards, Helen.

|Hi Mary, I've just seen this two-day training on bodywork and Fibromyalgia - haven't checked whether it's in your area, but I'm sure there will be similar - might be exactly what you're looking for. These guys are of an extremely high standard, by the way. http://www.bodyworkcpd.co.uk/workshops/fibromyalgia.htm|
