volunteer practitioners needed at St Christopher's Hospice, London
Are you a qualified complementary therapist who would like to share their skills with patients living with a life-limiting illness?
St Christopher’s hospice are recruiting volunteer practitioners in disciplines of massage, shiatsu and reflexology to offer complementary therapies in a variety of settings, including our home visiting service, inpatient unit and drop-in clinics.
St Christopher’s was founded by Dame Cicely Saunders in 1967 and, nearly 50 years later, her words still remain at the heart of everything we do: “You matter because you are you and you matter until the last moment of your life.”
As a cohort of therapists we find St Christopher’s to be a truly inspirational place of work. We work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and our work is valued by our peers. It is an honor and a privilege to work alongside patients, carers and family members supporting them at this juncture in their life.
If you are interested in this work you will play a huge part in helping us to achieve our vision, in which all dying people and those close to them have access to care and support, whenever and wherever they need it. We are looking for experienced therapists to volunteer as little or as much as you like on weekdays between 9am-5pm.
We are running an open meeting on the 14th September for interested therapists. It will offer the chance for you to ask questions, meet the therapists and learn more about the services we offer.
If you decide to come on board and join the team we will be running a comprehensive volunteer training course from the 28th – 30th September, followed by a Complementary therapies training and two day induction in October. We also run compulsory clinical supervisions, which run every 6 weeks.
