Dear Therapists,

Pamper-Me Happy Day 12th December 09

We are looking for therapists to assist us on the above fund-raising day for our charity and would be most appreciative if you could spare us your very valuable time and skills to support us in our fund-raising endeavours. We are looking for the following therapists Indian Head Massage Reflexologists Healers/ Reiki or other healing modalities.

All therapists should be qualified - insurance details will have to be provided.
We will however consider student therapists but they must have the authority of the school they are training with and student insurance to cover them doing treatments. All therapists will receive CPD certificates..
If you are unable to assist us, we would greatly appreciate it if you would pass this on to one of your peers/colleagues.

If you are interested in participating in our fund-raising day, please kindly send the tear off slip below for the attention of Rosie or Montania no later than Wednesday 30th Sept. 09. DOORWAYS is a therapeutic workshop, part of the Feltham Open Door Project, for people with mental health issues, based in Feltham. Our clients come from all sections of the community and are aged from 18 to 80. We enable individuals to counteract the stigma and isolation of mental health issues, by teaching them art skills. In return they paint and make crafts which are sold to buy resources for the project.

Our primary ethos in the Workshop aims to build confidence and skills and enable people who feel isolated to participate fully in the community. We work toward self-empowerment; constantly encouraging service-users to look for the positive in any given situation.

As the individual grows in skill and confidence we promote their self-empowerment towards ever greater challenges, preparing them for being more active in their local community and updating some of their business skills. Service users who have advanced through the progression of art classes offered have gone on to not only learn new skills of painting, but through the exhibit and sale of some of the art have learned skills in promotion and publicity.

Past service-users have been sufficiently empowered to go out and volunteer their services at 'Age Concern' and Lakeside Day mental health wards (part of West Middlesex University Hospital). Some have gone back to work' whilst still others have gone back into full-time education.

Artwork displayed at Starbucks, has been commissioned by them to a particular brief, at their Chiswick and Hounslow branches, giving the artists the experience of working to particular parameters. . Additional works can be viewed at the Medical Centre in Feltham and at Feltham Open Door Drop-In, as well as various art exhibitions in the boroughs of Richmond and Hounslow.

All artwork displayed is for Sale, which assists our project in the purchase of art materials and resources. Works can be commissioned to order by our artists and if you are interested in either, or wish to be part of our project, please contact our mobile on
