July 2008 Minutes with dates of the next meetings

Three Counties Border Group
Co-ordinator: Angela Rawlins
78a, Barkham Ride, Finchampstead Berks RG40 4ET Tel: 0118 9734368

Minutes of Three Counties Border Group Meeting held on 10th July 2008 at Macmillan House, Wokingham Hospital - 7.30pm – 10.00pm.

Attendance: 9 Members and 2 non-Members
Apologies: Formal apologies received from Ivana Cullop and Moira Jones

Points of Interest:

One of our members, Chrissie Apperley, is looking for willing aromatherapists to assist at Macmillan House in Wokingham. Whilst it would be beneficial that the applicant has post graduate training in palliative care, this is not essential. Macmillan House is funded by the Wokingham District Cancer Care Trust so you would be able to charge for your services, although the current therapists do not charge out at the full commercial rate. If anyone is interested please contact Chrissie by email on:

There is some suggestion that members of CThA no longer need to collect the requisite 10 CPD points to be able to continue with registration/ membership. Angela (as Group co-ordinator) agreed to investigate and report back at the next meeting.

Just a gentle reminder that we had planned to have a magazine / book swap, so please bring along any books etc that you are prepared to share.

Our Guest Speaker:

Angela introduced Diksha Chakravati, who gave us a very interesting session on RSI (repetitive strain injury). Diksha is the owner of her own company,’ Fixme’, that adopts a holistic approach to the problems associated with RSI. Diksha shared a number of important tips with us on how to identify and treat RSI and importantly, how to prevent it. We tried some of the stretching exercises and considered the appropriate massage methods for clients. If you would like more information about ‘Fixme’, please feel free to contact Diksha on 0118 926 1464. Her Email is: You can also view the website on

Dates of future meetings:

18th September 2008 Anne Parry, Tsuboki - Japanese Face Massage*

20th November 2008 Ruth Naylor – Authogenic Therapy (

(£5.00 for Members and £6.00 for non-Members)

Please remember we are a self-supporting group and our attendance monies pay for the hire of the Macmillan centre and guest speaker fees. Without your support we will not survive, so thank you for attending and remember you can bring a friend.

*NOTE: Anne is offering a special offer on a course for attendees! So make sure you come!

Any suggestions for next years programme will be very welcome, with any contact details
