Duties include all sorts of things: Massage Serving Hot Food Manning Water Stations Marshalling the route Giving our medals Litter picking Driving Support Vehicles Giving out Goody Bags Registering Volunteers Teams This year's event starts and finishes in The Meadows. The site opens at 8pm to walkers (to be confirmed) for entertainment, food, warm ups, speeches and massage. They also collect their foil blankets and rain macs (if required) and enjoy the party mood before setting off just before midnight. The majority of the money raised from the MoonWalk Edinburgh will be used to fund breast cancer initiatives within Scotland. About the Charity - Walk the Walk: Walk the Walk is a grant making charity dedicated to raising vital funds for breast cancer research and cancer care but is also passionate about encouraging women and men to become fitter and healthier and take control of their own wellbeing. Walk the Walk also takes teams of women and men to challenges all over the UK and across the world to raise money and awareness. See www.walkthewalk.org for further information. Guidelines for therapists * The walkers arrive on the site from 8.30pm on Saturday 24th June. Therapists need to be in place and ready to go by then, having checked in and collected crew T-shirts and passes etc - so we will need to arrive around 7.30pm. Exact details to be provided nearer the time. * We will be offering back, neck and shoulder massage, Indian head massage or foot massage/Reflexology with participants sitting in standard chairs. Any type of massage that can be administered on a chair is given - walkers generally go for foot or leg, or sit astride the chair for neck/shoulders etc. * Therapists tend to bring any materials they like to use (eg pillows, wipes, tissues, oils etc) * Massage sessions will generally 10-15 mins but it depends on the number of walkers waiting - if is is quiet, by all means do longer * The massages are obviously free to participants * Therapists are free to bring their own leaflets or business cards to give to interested clients. * The walkers set off at midnight and massage sessions tend to tail off from 11pm, so we will be finished before midnight * Louise Roy from energetics will be co-ordinating the massage sessions on the evening. All administration for the event is handled by Tori Marshall and the team at the address below and she can be contacted on tori@walkthewalk.org Any specific questions about the massage sessions or therapist issues can be directed to me at louise-roy@energetics.uk.com * If you would like to participate please complete the attached form, marking it clearly OMASSAGE¹ and attaching a copy of your insurance or qualification certificate and return it to: Tori Marshall Walk the Walk Brook House 88-100 Chertsey Road Woking Surrey GU21 5BJ Forms can be also be photocopied or downloaded from the website at www.walkthewalk.org (click on the MoonWalk Edinburgh Event from the event list on the home page and then on the Volunteer button).
