Vitalise looking for volunteer masseurs for London Marathon

Posted on behalf of Sophie Cox. Hi there, I am an ITEC-trained holistic massage therapist, and also work as an Events Manager for the charity Vitalise (formerly Winged Fellowship Trust). We provide holidays for disabled people and breaks for their carers. I wonder if you could help me? We have a team of people running the London Marathon for us on Sunday 17th April (and fundraising for us), and we always lay on a lavish reception for our runners after the race. We are looking for masseurs to spend the afternoon with us at this reception (at the prestigious Institute of Directors on Pall Mall), to give some of our weary runners a post-run massage (10/15 mins each). Unfortunately we cannot pay, but will reward all masseurs with food, drink and a charity t-shirt.... and the day is always great fun! And also it would provide good practice for any massage students out there. Can I just say 'Well Done' to all your runners. I actually volunteered for a different charity, and was there on Sunday, It was as you say a good fun day for all. As far as the runners are concerned they need their heads testing!! but I bet they raised an awful lot of money for you. Kaye Gambles (Massage Therapist)

I was one of the Massage therapists who volunteered at the Marathon, and can highly recommend volunteering to everyone who may be thinking about it. The atmosphere was lovely, it was a great opportunity for networking with other practitioners, and it is a wonderful feeling to play an active part in such a special event, and do something for charity at the same time. And the runners were so grateful! I was there with three friends and NO HANDS Massage colleagues, and we all had a wonderful time, lots of fun! Hope to see some of you next year! I am sorry I didn't read this advert in time as I enjoy working events like this. I am a holistic massage therapist (various treatments) and a member of Embody. Maybe you could bear me in mind for future similar events (paid work is also welcome too!). Best wishes Jayne
