Hi All, Norah Coyne here, I just wanted to let you know that as from today I will be available to contact as your new ctha regional manager and if you have any questions or concerns I am here so just drop me a line here or to regionalmanagerwestandireland@ctha.com and I will do my best to assist you. I understand as a therapist myself how hard things are at this time for you as students, therapists and business owners and hope that all will balance out in the near future to help us all rebalance and get back to our courses and businesses. i am concerned that some infromation i have seen about starting practice again as well as instructions on keeping safe says that we should not treat over 70,s or people with underlying conditions or have tested positive for covid 19
1 as an over 70 myself could this mean my insurance will not be valid if i treat clients
2 since most of my clients have underlying conditions how is this defined if they are actually no longer shielding or isolating
any ideas or do we just wait for more information ? b

Hi Barbara firstly I am not sure what therapies you practice and where? for example are you working in a hospital or general clinic, that sort of thing.
After reading your message it looks to me that this is mainly an issue you will need to take up with your insurance company this is the only way you will know whethere you are covered or not. Only they can tell you the correct information regarding treating over 70s , you should also speak to the registered body for your particular therapiy for example the reflexologist society or massage training institute that sort of thing if you work with reflexology or massage, its very hard to respond without knowing where you are based and the modalities you are working with. Regarding existing conditions, if would be in line with normal practice, you do not work with someone who has been diagnosed with covid unless they have received the all clear so maybe ask for doctors approval on those sorts of things, I hope this helps Norah
sorry for delay norah been busy trying to sort out on line courses for local adult education and a website for our therapy group
i work in kettering and am coordinator for the northamptonshire group i have to admit am a little disaappointed by the apparent apathy of therapists in the local area to respond to my emails or offers of support meetings but thats another problem
i offer reflexology massage indian head and practice is in my home i do some mobile treatments the information i have gleaned is from government websites and the aor i have contacted my insurance (ctha one) but they are all waiting for more goverment directives
since setting up to be covid compliant will not be easy if my insurance is going to for the next several months say it is not valid because i am over 70 i would like to know
meanwhile i am trying to teach on line and support the members of hte local complementary (group of which ctha members are a part and are very welcome to join) hopefully with virtual meetings and if the weather improves with a meetign for 7 of us in a local park

I am based in Swansea ,Reflexology and Back,shoulders and head massage .The majority of my customers are over 65 /75 they have permission from G.Ps for treatments .
Should i still check my Insurance to see if covered .
I am 63 myself ,
It would be great to meet other Reflexologists in the Swansea area.
