Post Partum massage
HI,
I've had a request from a lady who has very recently given birth (4 days ago!). She had an epidural, cutting and stitches, and want to know how soon she can have a massage for back stiffness. Having looked into this, I can't see any hard and fast rules. I've suggested that she wait until she feels up to massage (she can't currently sit down pain free), but I wondered if anyone had any more definite advice? And it also got me thinking, what if the mother had pethidine - does that make any difference to how soon she can receive massage? And is post C-section 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or 2 years? (as in for an Indian Head Massage, or Swedish Body Massage).
