Lets Get Together for our Best Year Yet
Hi all, I cant believe January is almost over and I'm still not used to writting 2013 in the date! I trust 2013 has got of to a great start for you all.
I am looking to arrange some get togethers over the next couple of months to network and find out how the Support group can provide you with the best 'support' so I am looking to find a few venues.
Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough,Leicester, etc to meet up and chat about the business of Complementary Therapy!
If you can reccomend any Cafes, bars or other public areas that have a warm, comfortable area we can chat and has coffee/tea/light refreshment available and would welcome the group for a couple of hours FOC! AND has free parking (not asking much!) please let me know.
If you would also like to let me know the kind of subject matter you are interested in for future meetings that would also be helpful.
IE Networking/social gathering, CPD Courses, Therapy News and regulation info, insurance, suppliers anything you are interested in, let me know.
Here's to a successful 2013 for us all.

Hi Stuart
Happy New Year to you.
In response to you request for input, I'd benefit most from group meetings that kept us up to date with professional changes as these are the hardest to keep abreast with when you're a sole trader. For example, as we know there are massive changes in the NHS from April this year. We have a global understanding but how is our region going to be affected particularly? Also I've heard there are to be changes in the PRS/PPL laws - what will the impact be on complementary therapists?
Personally, I'm not too bothered about CPD courses. We are such a diverse group and I feel we can find workshops on subjects relevent to ourselves quite easily.
As far as venues are concerned, The Earl of Chesterfield at Shelford, NG12 1EQ is a wonderfully welcoming pub/restaurant just off A46 for Leics/Loughborough and A52 for Nottingham. It might be a bit far our for Derby though.
In the past meetings have been held on a Tuesday. I understand plenty of notice is given but if Tuesdays are the only late night clinics provided, it's a lot of business to turn away. Therefore a mix of evenings would be beneficial.
Thanks for all your work on our behalf.
Lesley Matthews
Hi Lesley thanks for your reply. I am thinking of alternating days/evenings etc and also locations especialy over the comming months to reach as many members as possible. I am hopping to keep things informal ie meetings over coffee and if a particular subject warrants mor formallity then we can look at other venues etc. But I would realy like to meet therapists and find out what support is most wanted. I will look at the venues you have suggested and keep you posted.
Thanks again looking forward to meeting you.
Hi Stuart, I have to agree with Lesley on updates to our profession. I am also a sole trader therefore not getting interaction with other therapists to find out about changes. However I do have to travel from Sutton-in-Ashfield so it would depend on where the venue is for me to attend. Perhaps the CThA could put updates like these in the newsletters?
Hi Stuart, I like your suggestion of different venues and times, that way everyone can have a chance to attend a meeting. Im in Nottingham and would prefer a day time meet. Like you, just to meet up and have contact with other therapists would be great ! thanks for your efforts, Sandra :)
OK Sandra, I was avoiding day time as I am thinking it would be unpopular but I am happy to do a day time it's just which day?!
Hi Stuart, okay, I take on board your comment, if day meets are not popular then stick to evening time , Sandra :)
