Meetings

Hi everyone Please be aware that all meetings cost us as a business £16. We do this because we believe in a complementary therapy base to our practice. When no-one bothers to turn up (last time we had 1 person from the borders) we do wonder why we bother. The time before for interests sake we made a loss of £.50. Last week our loss £16.00 We really are looking at recruiting, developing and making things work. It is really helpful if people tell us in advance that meetings are not going to be attended, so we can rearrange. We have our friends at Neales Yard offering alternative arrangements, we can make this work! I am going to be around the regions trying to get more people to attend and contribute. Denise is handling things here in Edinburgh. Can you please be in touch so we can minimize costs! We have lost a lot of money, just for bothering to try to help this month. Yours Denise & Stuart East Scotland Regional Cordinator: Stuart, And Edinburgh Coordinator Denise

Nothing I can add to this other than appreciate your efforts Stuart and Denise, and reiterate that unfortunately I was out of the country at the date of the last meeting. Do you have a date for the next one? Is it a firm date that everyone can put in their diaries for the year ahead, like the last Sunday of the month or something? Look forward to meeting you at the next one but please let me know the date ASAP. gabe stewart

Hi Stuart and Denise Thank you so much for all the effort you put in to arranging our monthly meetings on the last Sunday of the month. It must be frustrating when no one, or only 1 or 2 turn up. I did say on the Forum when you reminded us of Sunday's meeting, that I wouldn't be able to make it because we were having a family celebratory meal at that time. I'll always let you know in advance if I can/can't make the meetings. I look forward to seeing you all on 24 November which I guess might be the last one for this year? kind regards, Susan

Dear Stuart I am not in your region to attend meetings but read your post with interest. I organize and run Reiki Shares here in Stewarton and have had a similar problem - people saying they will turn up and then not turning up on the night - the only thing I can suggest is that you ask participants to go to your website and RSVP by paying via Paypal and then at least if they don't turn up you can still cover your costs - best of luck in the future, keep up the good work! Regards Janice
We have no problem when people give us heads up that they can not attend. And of course things happen you do not expect. This is all normal. I am taking over as the East of Scotland coordinator and as such I would like to impress on people that local coordinators give their time and effort because they believe in the cause. They are not paid and they incur costs. When we know people are unable to attend, we can cancel, when we receive apologize we can accept a loss. But it is important for people to realize that the structure is in place to support you the therapists. In NO WAY was my comment a comment -v- those kind people who declared they could not make it. We appreciate that. Local coordinators receive no payment for holding their sessions. Therefore it is vital that they know when to proceed and when to cancel. Meetings are for you the members and as such you need to accept responsibility for that, since coordinators will be left with the bill otherwise. All local organizers need is an indication - will enough people turn up, Y or N, it is not a big problem cancelling for next month! Don't be a stranger! Say your piece! Please people, give your local coordinator an idea of whether to proceed or cancel each month! Simple as that.
