Summary of first meeting, yesterday 29th Jan 2012
Firstly many thanks to everyone who attended, and we hope to see other members at future meetings.
All together 10 of us made the meeting, which seemed good for a first meeting of the group.
We got to know each others, our locations, therapy provisions and discussed some of the needs we have, and some of the things the group can provide.
This included
- Peer supervision of similar therapists
- Marketing advice and support
- Assistance for newer members
- IT support for websites and a local CTHA register site
- Puregym and other possible local companies
- Effects of regulation on different therapies (e.g. HPC on herbalism, CNHC on some others)
- Who might consider helping out with CPD training days, and possible locations and numbers
As discussed, all members are welcome to contact me direct on stuart@scotlandtherapy.co.uk
All topics raised will be summarized on the forum for members so that the group activities are shared and transparent.
Finally post-meeting I have emailed head office (again) hoping to get the final paperwork resolved so we can start arranging training and approaching colleges. I will report back to the group when I achieve progress!
Cheers
Stuart

Thanks Stuart for organising everything. It was good to meet everyone. I looked on the HPC website and they are not yet receiving applications from herbalists but I will certainly keep myself updated.

I estimate at least 6 months before the HPC are ready to do anything concrete. In the meantime Napiers here in Edinburgh have brought in new systems in advance, and other herbalists without degrees are being frightened out of business even when they have appropriate vocational awards. It is a mess and unfortunately HPC are not great at real consultation. I am sure you will be fine entering the register with your degree, it is just a case of nipping along to their website every couple of months and seeing if they have moved things along or not!
Hopefully if we all keep a close eye on things regarding regulation we will see things coming in good time, and of course the CTHA often post updates in the magazine, so watch out for those.
For most of us the regulation is with CNHC and is voluntary, and as discussed CTHA are neutral on this.
Kind regards
Stuart
Thanks for Sundays meeting info.
Frances
We now have the global email facility and paperwork!!!
CTHA tried to email them Thursday but the SPAM folder ate them!
I have emailed everyone so we should now be in contact with ALL the local members :)
I will start ensuring compliance with the paperwork, and we should have plenty of time between now and the next meeting for Denise and I to digest the needs and requirements for the training meetings etc.
cheers
Stuart & Denise
