Work at Royal Edinburgh Hospital
I have been working as a sessional worker in a variety of NHS contexts since 1996 , and at the Royal Edinburgh ( Psychiatric) Hospital for 12 years. For the last 10 years or so, I've been using my Aromatherapy skills working with older patients with Alzheimers and Dementia, and have solely concentrated on this work for the past year or so. Now, having a family move to England, I need to give this up. I have seen the request for Aromatherapists in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital to help people with Alzheimers and Dementia problems.
I have been practising as an Aromatherapist for 18 years working in such centres as the Wholeworks and Natural Therapies and longtime at the Wight Chiropractic Clinic in Edinburgh and at home. I have tended over the years to help people generally rather than specifically with health issues but as I myself have become older my clients too have aged and the gentleness and calming of aromatherapy either by partial body massage or just with the hands and feet have produced lovely calming effects.
This is an an area that I am now interested in developing more skills for as these problems are not going to go away and as our population ages we will need more help for people with these kind of conditions.

That sounds absolutely great! I suggest you contact the OT, Fiona Robertson, whose details I posted in my original message, and perhaps forward to her the e mail you sent to me. Fiona will be deciding who takes over from me when I leave....but it looks to me as if you would be very well qualified for this work.It's incredibly rewarding work, and I will miss it greatly, but it would be great to hand it on to somebody like yourself!
