The Complementary Therapies service, at the Well Women Centre in Wakefield
The Complementary Therapies service, at the Well Women Centre in Wakefield, are currently recruiting therapists both on a volunteer basis (to provide low cost treatments) and for therapists to develop their full cost practices with us.
The Well Women Centre is a group of women workers and volunteers who support other women in a confidential and safe environment. As well as Complementary Therapies we offer counselling, courses, support and therapy groups, health related information and pregnancy & chlamydia testing. We are funded through a mix of contracts, grants, donations and income from the complementary therapies clinic.
The Complementary Therapies service offer a low cost clinic for women in receipt of benefits, it is run by therapists who volunteer their time. Volunteers are paid expenses and supervision is available. Grants can be offered to help regular volunteers with training and cpd needs. In the past students who are advanced in their courses and taking patients while under supervision have benefited from volunteering with us to build up their clinical hours and experience. Many volunteers find that they also generate paying clients from this contact.
We also offer a full cost service which anyone can access and qualified therapists may wish to build on their existing practices in an environment such as this. The CT service is active in generating business for the practitioners working here, from both the general public and healthcare professionals and groups in the area. We also attract client groups that are not necessarily easy to reach in private practice because of the reputation of the centre and our contacts with local healthcare groups and providers.
This is an ideal opportunity for qualified therapists to expand their practices or for students looking to fulfill portfolio/placement requirements in the final stages of their training. We are located in Wakefield City centre and provide a supportive, women only, environment in which to develop and expand your practice.
