Volunteer Opportunity for CThA Members - St Joseph's Hospice, Hackney
Title of volunteer role: Complementary Therapies Volunteer (Massage)
Responsible to: Complementary Therapies Team
St Joseph’s Hospice Hackney are recruiting skilled, dedicated enthusiastic Massage practitioners to join the hospice team in Hackney.
Key tasks
- Support patients on the wards/outpatients, family members & bereaved relatives
- Work as a team and be supported by experienced staff.
- Keep clear concise patient notes in line with data protection and confidentiality.
- Evaluate patient satisfaction.
Skills and qualities required:
- Dedicated professional therapists (recent graduates welcome)
- Qualified (preferably Level 4 or above) and insured
- Willing to be part of a professional team
- Confidence and skills required to work independently.
Desirable:
- Proven experience of working as part of multi-professional team
- Competent complementary therapy practitioner
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Evidence of good organisational skills in a workplace setting
- Good administrative skills
- Computer literacy
Time Requirement
- Weekly attendance is preferable, but fortnightly may be possible.
- We ask that you commit to the same shift on a regular basis – Monday-Friday (depending on availability) – 10.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. or 1.30 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.
- Monthly attendance of Case Study Meetings
Training
As a member of a highly ambitious, dynamic and growing team, we aim to provide the best patient-centered care possible. Therefore, volunteer therapists are invited to take part in our monthly case study meetings, weekly seminars, training workshops, CPD sessions and clinical supervision.
Qualifications required:
- DBS check.
- Completion of mandatory STJH training.
