Volunteers for Great North Run Massage 13th September 2015 (Diabetes UK, Charity Village, S Shields
Dear Massage Practitioners in the North East,
Can you to help us? We are looking for massage practitioners who can volunteer their time to provide post event sports massages for our runners at this amazing event. Up to 1,000 people will be running for Diabetes UK, many of whom visit our Charity Village marquee for refreshments, photos and massage. We have a large marquee, half of which is dedicated for up to 8 massage tables so you will have plenty of space to work. You will be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team, and we can offer reasonable local travel expenses.
This opportunity would suit either qualified practitioners or students who require work experience as part of their course. All therapists need to provide their own equipment and insurance, and students need a qualified supervisor.
It is estimated that more than one in 17 people in the UK has diabetes (diagnosed or undiagnosed). Each year 24,000 people die early from the condition and many more suffer serious complications such as blindness, lower limb amputation, kidney failure and stroke. We are working towards a world without diabetes.
Some of our runners may have diabetes themselves, many more have been touched by diabetes through their loved ones, and others have seen the impact of our work in their communities. Your help will support our runners, and the millions of people living with diabetes.
Please call or email me if you would like to be part of our team, or if you would like further information.
