Exeter and District - Latest news
Hi all,
Just an update on the latest happenings with the group. Since our last
meeting I have been inundated with emails from therapists who have heard
about the group so hopefully the group will grow into a useful asset for
all therapists.
Henry Tang has officially been appointed as Deputy Coordinator of the
group and I look forward to working with him to the benefit of all.
The next meeting on 16th Sept at 7.30 pm will be held at the St. Sidwell
Centre in Sidwell St. and will include a guest speaker on the subject of
"Marketing" and will be followed by a question and answer session and open
forum. any ideas for discussion are welcome!
I have been contacted by Flora Cruft who is a registered counsellor ( BACP
) and trainer. She will be holding a workshop which may interest
therapists. Details are below.
"I wonder if you and your network of therapists would be interested in a
workshop I'm holding in November. It is specifically designed to introduce
alternative therapists and those in the caring professions to the
fundamentals of counselling skills. With both taught and experiential
elements, the workshop will explore the skills of listening, feedback,
self-attunement and therapeutic boundaries. Participants will be
encouraged to think about when and how it might be appropriate to offer
support to clients who present emotional issues during their physical
treatment.
The workshop will take place on Saturday 1st November 2008, from 2-5pm. It
will be held at the Margaret Jackson Centre, 4 Barnfield Hill, Exeter EX1.
Tickets cost £30 and there is limited availability as I am looking for a
maximum of 10 participants. I attach a flyer which I hope you can
distribute to network members if you feel this is appropriate".
The St. Sidwell Centre is holding an open day on 13th Sept between 11 am
and 2 pm and we have been asked if any therapists would be will to provide
"taster" sessions for this charity day. I already have two volunteers and
would be grateful if one more therapist would be willing to take part.
I hope to have an article in the Express and Echo health pages in the near
future which will promote the group and Complementary Therapy in general.
Hope you are all well.
