Hi Alison The black couch with metal legs doesn't have a back resting that can be lifted up for reflexology etc but ... I do have a white couch with metal legs and this one does have a back rest that can be lifted up. The white one also has a carrying case and I can sell this one if you're interested in this and will sell for only £30. Let me know if interested Susan 07904012205
