Training in essential oils
Does anyone know of any training available for a qualification to enable someone to use essential oils (in creams, lotions, blends etc) without doing the massage part of a standard Aromatherapy course?

Hi Yvonne,
The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy (ITHMA) may run suitable courses. Here's the link for their web site:

Hope that helps,

Hi Yvonne
I am unsure of where you are based.
Perhaps you should consider doing a BSc degree in complementary medicine, which are offered by various Universities. I completed my degree in 2001 at The University of Salford Greater Manchester. The course offered specialisms and a variety of complementary subjects and one of my choices was Aromatology - Aromatherapy. The degree provides flexibility in subject areas and choices in research elements and or practical elements.
Legislation will affect how you blend and who you can prescribe blends to so you will need to be au fait with this. Also, the degree would provide you with kudos in what you are trying to acheive.
Hope this is of some use.
