Blood Clots

I am giving a reflexology treatment to a lady who had a blood clot removed from her leg last June. Is it safe to do reflexology on that foot? thanks, Barb

Hi, Your client should not be treated until full permission has been granted by her GP or specialist. The hand may be worked instead of the foot, but as the circulation is a closed and continuous system, reflexology will affect the circulation irrespective of where the therapist works. Also, if the client has problems with her circulatory system, it may well be that she is receiving medication, so GP or specialist referral is also needed in this instance.
