Fruitless Advertising Propositions

Fruitless Advertising Propositions Dear Members I have read this post: Leisure Medical UK - can anyone help me with this? I recently signed up with Leisure Medical UK Ltd and bought some advertising space which will go on the back of some appointment cards at a Doctor's surgery in Battersea. I've handed over £100 and have two more installments of £100 to give for 24 months worth of advertising. Does anyone have any direct experience with this company (good or bad!) and can give me some advice as I've seen rather a lot of negative press about them online and now not sure what to do! I could bypass the £100 if it means not having to spend more, but the thought of giving my full £300 up for getting nothing(?) in return doesn't make me feel good. I spoke to the Doctor's surgery and they said they hadn't had any appointment cards from Leisure Medical in months and were using another company. I spoke to the rep Tony about this and he said he was dumbfounded and would get back to me. Does anyone know what my rights are in regards to not paying or breaking the contract? Do I need to?! Thanks so It seems that this sort of advertising is still being done with members paying out lots of money for nothing. I was caught in this same trap some years ago and paid a lot and got nothing back. PLEASE would you take care, before taking up the contract, ask for copies of the cards, brochures and phone some of the advertisees to see what results they had. Please tell your friends

I was approached by Leisure Medical a few years ago to advertise in exactly the same way on the appointment cards of a local medical practice. I agreed to meet their rep. After a long hard-sell talk, I agreed to part with my money. It was a complete con and I never got a single referral from it. The medical practice did not seem to know anything about it. I put this experience down to my own naivety and it had certainly made me look at any form of advertising with more care. I don't agree to anything where you have to sign now-and-then and I ask to see everything in writing first. Last year, we were approached to advertise in our local Council's Sport and Community Publication which looked like a great thing to do. A company called Leisure Services was handling this on behalf of the Council. However, we are now in the middle of complaints procedures with the Council, as the published publication is nothing like the one shown to us when we agreed to advertise. Fortunately,we insisted on keeping a copy of the samples presented at the time, so we were able to make representation to the Council with hard evidence! Arlette Pengilly - The Zen Zone, Poole

Arlette, I'm so sorry you have this experience. Try and post it to the other forums where appropriate to warn other members. Also, email Zara at CThA your experiences. I have asked her to try and post warnings, I think it's better in the magazine as I do not think that many members look at the forums. I think you should get some where with the council as they are your point of contact. I have googled this company a year or so ago, and I thought there was quite a bit of negative reports

Just to make you aware I have just received a phone call from a Company saying that a local Doctors Surgery manager had asked "them" to contact therapists to advertise on the back of their appointment cards. They found my details on Embody so it sounds as if they are doing the rounds again, claiming to represent Doctors Surgeries. They didn't say who they were and the number they are phoning from is 01257 277700. The Area number is Chorley, where Leisure Medical are based. I have had dealings with them before and, as everyone else says, don't waste your money on advertising with them.
